“This is our third-year exhibition at the fair. We are focusing on the promotion of our newly-acquired licensed Hummer eyewear. The all-terrain Hummer vehicles are designed to travel to the ends of the earth and Hummer eyewear comprising sporty spectacles and all-weather eye gear lets you connect with the outdoors in different ways. We take advantage of the Hong Kong fair to launch Hummer eyewear to customers in Asia Pacific particularly. We’ve received interest from different buyers including some from the Middle East. We are taking a bigger-sized booth this year and everything goes very smoothly. This is the most important fair for the eyewear industry in Asia.”
Alex Tang, Director, Arena Investment Dev. Ltd., Hong Kong (booth 1B-D18)
“This is a good fair. It’s well organised and takes place at the right time of the year. We have been exhibiting here for more than 10 years. The main purpose is to see our Asian customers and promote our brands such as Jaguar, Davidoff and Menrad. We also have staff from our Shanghai office to serve Chinese mainland customers. The atmosphere is good this year. This is a place for us to explore business opportunities, meet existing customers and distributors as well as receive orders. I feel very positive about the exhibition results.”
Eberhard Müller-Menrad, Managing Director, Menrad Group, Germany (booth 1B-D02) |

“In business since 1996, we specialise in the design and manufacturing of cases for eyewear and related accessories. Our plant in Wuxi produces about 10 million cases a year. HKTDC Hong Kong Optical Fair is a very important exhibition for us. It attracts buyers from everywhere - not just Europe and USA, but also Asia. We have been participating in the fair since 2003 and we are able to reap positive responses and find new buyers each year. The traffic is quite strong this year. We’ve met with some buyers from USA and Italy. They are taking samples and we expect to discuss further for business cooperation.”
Jessica Pu, Vice-General Manager, Anbest (Hong Kong) Limited, Hong Kong (booth 1E-A18) |

“BLICK has been in business for 30 years providing sports glasses and prescription swimming goggles. We are exhibiting at HKTDC Hong Kong Optical Fair for the first time to introduce our new products and new designs. We found that many of our existing customers from Europe and USA have joined the fair as well. This is a very interesting experience as we take the opportunity to strengthen our business ties. It is so exciting to be here. I feel good about the buyers’ responses and expect to achieve positive results.”

“Dioptics, a division of FGX International, is the biggest player in the business of mass market sunglasses in the USA. We have about 300 employees. This is my third-time visit to the Hong Kong fair. Our focus is on functional sunglasses and we have altogether 15 staff here looking for new products this time. We’ve found very interesting items with unique styles and some crazy ideas. We will continue to negotiate with the potential suppliers and probably visit their factories at a later stage. This fair features a good variety of suppliers and really provides a good place for sourcing.”
Eric Rhea, Vice President/General Manager, Dioptics, USA
“Midas Optical is an eyewear designer and manufacturer. At present, we source the parts and components mainly in Korea. Being here is to find new suppliers to support our expansion. We are looking for TR90 injection frames and metal front frames, and HKTDC has arranged several meetings with potential suppliers for us. We hope to explore some business opportunities with them. This is a very good fair with a concentration of suppliers. We are deeply impressed with the professional services and the excellent exhibition centre, which is so conveniently located in the city centre.”
Andy Noh, General Manager, Midas Optical, Korea |
