“Optica Next operates 12 shops in St, Petersburg, Russia, selling designer frames, prescription glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. For frames, adults in Russia like classic styles and dark colours such as grey, blue and brown, while young people like sharp colours. At this year’s Hong Kong Optical Fair, we have found some potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Europe for the supply of frames and sunglasses, and we may place onsite orders. This is our second time visiting the Hong Kong Optical Fair. The fair is a great place for us to source new products and see the latest eyewear trends in the world.”
Alexander Golubkov, President, Optica Next, Russia

“In business for 20 years, Chilli Beans has 720 stores in Brazil and 50 stores in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the US, selling sunglasses, optical frames, watches and bags under our own brand. Chilli Beans is the biggest retailer for sunglasses in Latin America. This is my second time attending the Hong Kong Optical Fair to look for new suppliers and new business opportunities. Up till now, I have found two potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan for the supply of good-quality and value-for-money sunglasses and optical frames. I’ll ask for their samples and send them our specifications and designs after the fair. If they have met our requirements, we’ll place an initial order for 50,000 pieces with each supplier. The fair is well-organised and it’s easy for me to walk around. More importantly, there is a good concentration of eyewear suppliers.”
Kleber Wilson de Almeida, Product Manager, Chilli Beans, Brazil

“Arts Optical is a leader in the design, production and distribution of various eyewear products. We have joined the Hong Kong Optical Fair for many years, but this is the first time that we have exhibited at the Brand Name Gallery to promote our own brands and highlight our original designs. Our main goal is to look for new distributors. Business atmosphere at the fair has been very positive with heavy buyer traffic. The Hong Kong Optical Fair has become an internationally renowned fair that attracts many buyers from around the globe. We have met with a lot of buyers from Europe, Southeast Asia and the US. In Europe and US, acetate frames have been very popular over the past few years, but metal frames are now making a comeback. Metal-acetate combination frames and titanium frames also prevail. In terms of colours, men like silver and gold while women prefer vivid colours such as rose gold and matte purple.”
Simon S. M. Lee, Business Development Manager, Arts Optical Company Limited, Hong Kong Booth no. GH-L04

“We specialise in optical frames, sports sunglasses and reading glasses which come with magnetic front connection, allowing wearers to hang the glasses around their necks when they want to take them off. After making a very successful debut at last year’s Hong Kong Optical Fair, our company has doubled the size of our booth at this year’s fair. Through last year’s fair, we completed a lot of deals and opened up many new markets in Asia such as the Chinese mainland, India, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. The Hong Kong fair is a good place for us to meet serious buyers and do business. This year we hope to find new distributors for the markets in Asia and Latin America. On the second day of the fair, we have identified an exclusive distributor from Argentina who already placed an initial order for 1,200 pieces, and this distributor may also cover other Latin American markets such as Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. We are happy with the results so far.”
