Opening New Business Opportunities

 

A medical event leveraging on Hong Kong's position as Asiaˇ¦s leading medical hub is making its debut this year, and features more than 150 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions. Major exhibitors include 3M Hong Kong Ltd, Abbott Laboratories Limited, Johnson & Johnson (HK) Ltd and Taiko Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Among the highlights of the fair is a group pavilion showcasing medical device companies from members of the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association, the fairˇ¦s co-organiser.

Business Prospects
The Chinese mainlandˇ¦s Rmb850 billion medical-care system reform plan, announced in April 2009, is expected to increase medical expenditure, creating more business opportunity.


Dazzling Highlights
Themed zones help buyers connect with the right suppliers easily and efficiently.
Medical Device zone Focuses on a broad range of equipment, especially in the key categories of laboratory, ophthalmologic and physiotherapy equipment.
Medical Supplies and Disposables zone Showcases supplies required for the booming hospital and home-based long-term care sectors. Products featured include gloves, incontinence & stoma aids, and masks.
Tech Exchange Brings together the developers of medical devices and supplies and businesses looking to market these products.


Harmonising Device Regulation
Taking place alongside the fair is the 14th Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP) Meeting. AHWP is a non-profit regional body established in 1996 which aims to forge a common direction for the harmonisation of medical device regulation in Asia. The meeting includes hundreds of government officials and representatives of regulatory authorities from the AHWP's member economies who are involved in the medical device field.

At a press conference held on 29 September, journalists were briefed on the latest developments of the fair. They were also updated on the outlook for the industry.
